Recently, I saw a TikTok video of a girl wearing this gorgeous E.L.F. Cosmetics Lip Lacquer in the shade Wild Rose. Because the color looked pretty on her, I thought of getting it too. But when I tried it out, it made my skin look ashy, as I have a wheatish complexion. After trying many shades, I decided to go with the shade Love Bite.

As a makeup enthusiast, I always try to get products that are affordable as well as useful. For me, affordability comes first, as I often purchase beauty products. Elf is a brand that offers reasonable prices without compromising quality, which attracted me. I was also excited to try this lip lacquer because it is a comparable Fenty Beauty Lip Hot Chocolit dupe, as shared on OhDupe

The shade Love Bite looks way too good on almost all skin types. But there’s a lot more to know about this. Let me tell you why I chose this particular lip gloss, what I liked, and if I’ll repurchase it.

About The Brand.

Elf Cosmetics, a brand based in Oakland, California, is an American cosmetics brand known for its affordability and assurance. The brand is believed to focus more on product quality than advertising. They don’t promote fancy packaging and sales promotion which helps the brand save a significant amount used to enhance products.

They even manufacture their beauty products in one of the lowest overhead places in terms of cost-effectiveness, China. Today, Elf owns three more brands: ELF Skin, Well People, and KEYS Soulcare. All these brands, including their parent company, ELF, are cruelty-free, clean, affordable, and offer premium quality.

The Elf lip lacquer gloss contains vitamins A & E as crucial ingredients. But there are also some ingredients that can be a little tricky to understand.

The active ingredients used in the formulation of this product will be briefly discussed below:

  • Grape Seed Oil: Grapeseed oil in a lip gloss can be a boon for people with sensitive lips as it can reduce inflammation and irritation. The high antioxidant concentration in it helps lips to fight free radicals. Grapeseed oil not only hydrates and moisturizes lips but also promotes healing.
Overall, it is a better alternative to lip balms. The presence of grapeseed oil in the elf lip gloss helps protect lips from environmental damage while giving you a soft tint.
  • Cocoa Seed Oil: Cocoa seed oil in elf lip gloss gives you smooth and supple lips without making them stick together. I have chapped lips that often peel and feel dry, so I was surprised to see how much better they felt after using this gloss. It also offers a hint of a pleasant cocoa scent to the gloss that is not overpowering.
  • Titanium Dioxide: Commonly known as a sun protection element, titanium dioxide also prevents sunburn. While we know that lips are the most sensitive part of the entire face, there’s a fair chance of them getting dark, dry, or chapped. Thus, titanium dioxide can play a crucial role in saving them.
However, studies suggest that ingesting it is unsafe as it contains nanoparticles that can harm your lungs.
Therefore, using lip products free from Titanium Dioxide is preferably better. However, if you must use a lip product containing Titanium Dioxide, endeavour not to ingest the content after it’s applied on your lips.

ELF Lip Lacquer Love Bite review

The Elf Lip Lacquer comes in 11 stunning shades: Clear, Bubbles, Fantasy, Mauve Glitz, Whisper Pink, Wild Rose, Love Bite, Moody, Orange Blossom, Cherry Bomb, and Black Cherry. I got myself the shade Love Bite with a brownish tint that looked good on my wheatish skin.

Unlike some other brands, Elf’s lip lacquer lacks any cover box. It comes in a sleek glass bottle that is quite sturdy. I accidentally dropped it a few times, but it didn’t break. The wand is a little twitchy, but that’s fine. Its compact size makes it easy to carry in my pocket.

Texture.

ELF Lip Lacquer Love Bite review

The texture of this Elf lip Lacquer Love Bite gloss is non-sticky, yet a little gooey when I reapply it. It feels pretty light on my lips as I’m not fond of lip glosses because of their sticky feeling and the fact that they’re not transferproof. What I like the most about the texture is its glittery appearance. It looks so beautiful when you apply it on top of a lipstick. But I prefer wearing it as a tint.

I also liked how smooth it is, unlike other glosses needing to be reapplied. Just one stroke, and you’re good to go.

Size.

The packaging says 0.08 FL (2.5ml) with a 6-month shelf life. I carry it all the time in my pocket because of the sleek cylindrical bottle.

My Honest Review On ELF Lip Lacquer Love Bite.

ELF Lip Lacquer Love Bite review

As I’ve earlier mentioned, I’m not a lip gloss person, but this is my favorite. I use it as a lip tint and apply just one layer as it’s pretty pigmented, and I also like to dab it sometimes to create a more subtle hue on certain occasions.

One thing I loved the most was the glittery effect it leaves. It isn’t overpowering or tacky but looks soft and seamless if you apply one layer.

Moreover, the Elf lip lacquer comes in 11 shades, from clear to tints. But if you’re looking for a two-in-one lip gloss that can be worn as a lip shade and gloss, I would say this is the best choice.

ELF Lip Lacquer Love Bite gives you a brownish tint that would look just perfect with a nude brownish lipstick. Also, the light vanilla kind of fragrance isn’t too overwhelming.

I felt that this lip lacquer shade, Bubbles, was more beautiful and would look stunning if you wore it over any lipstick. It has a glittery effect with a transparent gloss, adding a touch of glamour. So, if you think Love Bite is too dark, I recommend you try Bubbles.

Speaking of Love Bite, I wear it whenever I’m out and need just a hint of color that also hydrates. I usually apply a single layer, giving me the perfect shade that complements almost all my outfits. If you have a lunch date or are going out with friends, Love Bite can be your go-to lip tint.

In Conclusion.

As a person who loves lip tints and lipsticks, I would say this recent purchase was a hit for me. If you’re someone who loves to try new lip products, I’d say you should give this lip lacquer a shot.

The Elf lip lacquer in the shade Love Bite made me realize that glosses can be better than matte lipsticks that would just dry up my chapped lips even more. I think I’ll repurchase it, but I’ll check the wand this time. I’d also like to try Elf’s lip-plumping glosses to see if they work.

Q: Is Elf Lip Gloss Sticky?

A: The Elf Lip Lacquer doesn’t feel sticky when you first apply it, but it felt a little gluey when I reapplied. Of course, it wasn’t a big concern for me, but it was something that I disliked.
