In my quest to acquire new hydrating products for my skin, I ran into an unpopular, yet promising skin hydrating serum – Cos De Baha Snail Mucin HA Serum, which contains 83% snail mucin, hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5 (D-panthenol) and 2% niacinamide, all packed in a 120ml bottle size. And guess what? This is a Korean-made product from a company named Cos De Baha.

So, without much hesitation, I purchased this skin hydrating serum, put it to the test for two (2) weeks. Ladies and gentlemen, here’s another product with a wonderful review of mine, so, sit back and feed your eyes. But before we go into that, let’s quickly know about the brand. 

About The Brand.

Cos De Baha is a Korean skincare brand, (South Korea to be precise). Although they’re new to the skincare world, but gradually building their presence in the game. This brand is known for producing decent skincare products such as: collection of serums, toners and creams that address various skin needs at an affordable price.

A skin hydrating formulation that cocktails snail secretion filtrate at 83%, alongside with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 (D-panthenol) to deeply hydrate the skin, thus rejuvenating dry dull skin to life, leaving your skin intensely hydrated and plump. 

It also contains 2% niacinamide to support and strengthen skin barrier, reduce redness and excess oil (sebum), minimize enlarged pores, help treat acne and brighten dull skin complexion

This hydrating serum also contains other herb extracts and active ingredients. 

The prominent ingredients associated In the formulation of this product will be briefly explained below:

  • Snail Mucin: Extracted from snails, and acts as a mega multi-tasker, with the ability to do everything from moisturizing to boosting skin hydration and promoting collagen production, healing and regeneration. 
  • Sodium Hyaluronate: A humectant. It’s a salt form or version of hyaluronic acid which has a low molecular weight. It’s small enough to penetrate the epidermis, or top layer of the skin. In turn, it can improve hydration from the underlying skin layers to retain water and help keep skin hydrated, soft and plump.
  • Niacinamide: A type of vitamin B3 and a water-soluble vitamin that helps control excessive oil production, minimize large pores, Improve skin barrier function and improve overall skin tone which is very beneficial for all skin types, but mostly for individuals with oily skin
  • Pantothenic Acid (B-5): Also known as Vitamin B5, which works as a moisturizer and hydrator to help hydrate the skin and repair the skin barrier, which also expedites the healing process of skin wounds.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract: This commonly used plant extract delivers soothing properties and serves as a humectant (hydrating agent). It also offers antioxidant qualities to defend skin from environmental stressors.
  • Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate: It has an anti-inflammatory effect and is surface-active. Its sebum-regulating properties inhibit the excessive production of skin lipids by the sebaceous glands. It soothes stressed skin. 
  • Witch Hazel Extract: Witch Hazel extract has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps skin with mild irritation or redness and helps decrease any inflammation. It also loosens the dead skin cells, dirt or dust associated with it and takes away any moisture-tangled dead bacteria as well.
  • Rosemary Extract: With its potent antibacterial qualities, rosemary essential oil helps fight the acne bacteria from getting into your pores. 
    This quality, combined with rosemary oil’s non-comedogenic properties, means that acne has no foothold as the oil both clears out pores and forms a protective barrier against future breakouts.
  • Eucalyptus Leaf Extract: The benefits of eucalyptus leaf extract for general wellness and skin health are many, including: Anti-inflammatory: reduces inflammation on the skin. Antiseptic: heals wounds from acne, psoriasis, or eczema. Antibacterial: kills off a bacterial infection thereby preventing inflammation.

Guys, believe me when I say this serum is one of the best skin hydrating serums I have ever witnessed. The soothing and deep hydrating effect is out of this world. Glides effortlessly on the skin and most importantly doesn’t leave any nasty greasy residue behind. Everything sinks in fast and leaves skin feeling hydrated and happy. 

As a long-term tretinoin-user, Cos De Baha Snail Mucin HA Serum helped curtail dryness, soothe mild redness that comes with tretinoin usage, all thanks to its content in niacinamide – which strengthens and repairs skin barrier, making it receptive to tretinoin.

This snail mucin-infused hydrating serum preps my skin by supplying and nourishing it with intense hydration, and keeps my skin barrier protected from retinoids and exfoliating acids that I use.

Q: How did you use the Cos De Baha Snail Mucin HA Serum?

A: After cleansing with a skin-suitable facial cleanser, I pat (not rub) my face with a clean towel. I don’t towel-off completely, so as to retain a moist or damp face. While my face is damp or moist, I apply 2-3 drops of the Cos De Baha Snail Mucin HA Serum on my face, while I gently massage till fully absorbed.
