I’m sure you all know the importance of skin-hydration.
Exempting hydration makes your skincare routine incomplete. Hydrating your skin not only helps keep your skin well hydrated, plump and supple but also helps minimizes the looks of wrinkles and fine lines. And when you think of one of the best skin-hydrating ingredients, hyaluronic acid is never to be skipped.

What is Hyaluronic acid?

Consider hyaluronic acid as a drink for the skin. As a humectant, hyaluronic acid draws moisture from the atmosphere to hydrate the skin surface, giving your skin that satisfactory hydration effect without leaving behind a greasy feeling. Hyaluronic acid also extends its potentials to reducing the looks of wrinkles and fine lines by giving the skin a plump and supple effect, which helps fill in lines and improve overall skintone and texture.

The Ordinary has numerous skincare products to tackle different skin concerns, and their hyaluronic acid serum is one of their best sellers. It’s the combination of hyaluronic and vitamin B5.

My Honest Review On The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid serum

Like I made mention earlier, I have previously used alot of hyaluronic acid serum brands, before plunging to using The Ordinary’s brand, just to give it a trial and see how it goes, and so far my experience with this serum isn’t a miss and also not definitely a hit, let’s just say something in-between.

Was It Hydrating Enough?

Honestly speaking my skin felt hydrated when ever I apply The Ordinary hyaluronic acid serum, but I never got that intense hydration effect, weird right?, To be honest, I thought I was the only one, not until I read some reviews on Reddit stating the same thing.

Don’t get me wrong, I got the hydration I needed, but not as good as that of the Hada Lobo Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion, which contains 5 different types of hyaluronic acid to hydrate both beneath and above skin surface.

All I’m saying in essence is, I never got that deep-hydration effect with The Ordinary hyaluronic acid serum just like I got with other brands I’ve used previously — I always used hyaluronic acid on damp skin, which is known to be the right way of usage. But nevertheless the ultimate goal (which is skin hydration) was achieved while using The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid serum.

Before using the serum, I cleanse my face with a skin-suitable facial cleanser and pat it with a clean towel (not towelling-off completely), leaving my face damp or moist, before applying 4-5 drops of The Ordinary hyaluronic acid on my face, while giving it a gentle massage to fully absorb. The hydration effect is wonderful, and if you’re someone who wants to enjoy hyaluronic acid’s skin-hydrating benefits, you can lay your hands on The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid serum to attain that.

But if you rather want a more intense hit of hydration, then I recommend you try out Hadalobo Gokujyum Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion, which contains 5 different types of hyaluronic acid with different molecular weight to deeply penetrate into the skin for an adequate hydration in the deeper layers of the skin.

In Conclusion.

I used this hydrating-serum everyday for 1-week and some days to give precise review about it, and all I can say is — The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 formula gave my skin the hydration it deserves, as it unites hyaluronic acid + vitamin B5 to deeply hydrate the skin. But I wasn’t satisfied with the hydration-effect, but that doesn’t mean it won’t replenish your dehydrated skin of lost moisture, of course it will. Just ensure to use hyaluronic acid serum the right way by applying it on moist or damp skin, as it works better when it comes in contact with water.
