If you’re a religious skincare-lover, you should be conversant with facial cleansers, and the important role they play in a skincare-routine. In every skincare routine, cleansers takes the first step, and the reason for this is to take off all traces of impurities and debris lingering in the skin pores and surface. You wouldn’t want to put your precious (if not expensive) skincare topicals on a uncleansed skin right? — not only is it disgusting, but also limits the penetration of your skincare products, as dead skin cells, oils and other debris will discourage a proper absorption of your skincare products, which can lead to little to no positive effect.

There are numerous facial cleansers on the market made suitable for different skin types, some of this facial cleansers not only properly cleanses the skin, but also targets acne and also mildly exfoliates the skin which enhances permeability of your skincare products.

Although in a proper skincare routine, double-cleansing is advised (if necessary), that also includes having an acne-treating cleanser which helps unclog congested pores and prevent further occurrence of blemishes, acne breakouts and pore congestion. This made me lay my hands on ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser, which not only treats acne, but also midly exfoliates the skin.
After 1-week of product-usage, I think it’s time to share my personal experience with it.

This cleanser contains 2% Salicylic acid, a BHA which penetrates deeper into the skin, cutting through oil, to decongest the pores of grime and gunk and also midly exfoliate the skin, by gently taking off dead skin cells in-between the pore lining and those sitting on skin surface.

Salicylic acid is the only active ingredient in this product, and that’s why it’s called an “Acne Wash Cleanser” because salicylic acid is a hero ingredient when it comes to getting rid of acne. ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser also contains Aloe vera and Chamomile to help soothe the skin and reduces redness to avoid dryness and irritation.

What Is Salicylic acid?

Just incase if you’re new to salicylic acid, this ingredient is a Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA). It is derived from White willow (salix alba). Not only does it help the skin shed dead skin cells from the top layer and decreasing redness and swelling (inflammation), but also treats acne as it unclog the hair follicles (pores) of dead skin cells and other pore-clogging impurities and nasties.

Unlike AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) which are water-soluble and ideal for surface exfoliation, salicylic acid is oil-soluble, due to that, it penetrates deeply into the skin and cuts through oil/sebum to deliver its potentials by deeply exfoliating and decongesting the pores of grime and gunk.

My Honest Review On ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser.

ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser review

This cleanser is an holy-grail. Not only does it deep cleanse the skin of impurities, but it also feels gentle on the skin, you won’t feel any tingling or itching sensation while the product is on, although it’s advised you shouldn’t leave on the skin for long while cleansing. Duration should be 60 seconds.

The product texture is perfect, as it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin when applied, although it’s a cleanser, one shouldn’t mind if it’s heavy or not, since it’s going to be washed off anyway. But contrary to that, it’s light-weight and non-greasy which makes it a perfect cleanser for oily skin type. The fun thing about this product is, a little goes a long way, therefore, it’s going to last for a while.

At the time of using this facial cleanser, I had no active acne, as I control my breakouts with tretinoin (I have an oily skin), but I can tell that this product did a great thing for my skin as it mildly deep cleanses my skin without leaving it extremely dry.

In Conclusion.

If you’re dealing with acne, especially if you have an oily skin, and you’re seeking for the best facial cleanser to suit your skin type, I urge you with a full chest to get your hands on this acne zapping facial cleanser, your skin will thank you for it. Don’t forget to do a patch test (to test for allergy) prior to using this product and also wear your sunscreen before exploring your outdoor activities to protect your skin from the UV rays exposure of the sun.

Possible Question & Answers.

Q: Does ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser dry out the skin?

A: As regards to the nature of salicylic acid being an acid, it has the tendency to dry out your skin, therefore, after cleansing your face with ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser, you’ll tend to feel minimal dry sensation which will be counteracted when you apply your moisturizer.
ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser contains salicylic acid at 2% which is a lower concentration and most recommended concentration suitable for every skin type (especially oily skin). Regardless, we strongly suggest you should do a patch test before using this product.

Q: How did you use ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser?

A: Dampen your skin with water, then apply a small amount of ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser on your face, gently massage (in a circular motion) for 60 seconds, then rinse off thoroughly with a clean lukewarm water. You can proceed to applying your additional skincare topicals.

Q: Does salicylic acid have side effects?

A: For the fact salicylic acid is an acid, it comes with its own side effects especially when inappropriately used. Although salicylic acid is considered safe overall, but it may cause skin irritation when first starting. It may also remove too much oil, resulting in dryness and potential irritation, such as skin tingling or stinging, itching, peeling skin and hives.

Over-the-counter salicylic products are capped 1-2%, being known to be the standard use-at-home concentration.
ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid which makes it mild on the skin, but not mild on acne.

Q: Can people with dry skin use ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser?

A: Salicylic acid is best suited for those with oily skin and superficial acne. For those with dry, eczema-prone, or sensitive skin, I suggest you should go for 1% concentration (that’s if you must use salicylic acid) as the drying ingredient could be too harsh and lead to irritation.
Although a 2% salicylic acid is a low concentration and may be suitable to some people with dry and senstive skin (as all skin types differs). Do well to speak with your dermatologist on your intended approach and performing a patch test first prior to product usage is highly recommended.

Q: How often should I use ZapZyt Acne Wash Cleanser?

A: As directed by the brand, its says “Use twice daily”. Salicylic acid (at lower concentration 1-2%) is typically safe for use once or twice per day, as long as you use them as directed.
I strongly suggest you should start-off slowly by using it every-other-day, while taking cognisance of your skin response, before moving up to applying twice daily.

However if you feel using salicylic acid twice daily will be too much for your skin, you can cut down to once daily and interchange with a hydrating cleanser. Example: Hydrating cleanser in the morning, salicylic acid cleanser at night.
