As you all know, keeping the skin optimally moisturized is very important to ensure good skin health. As you wouldn’t want to starve your skin of its deserving moisture, would you? Absolutely not.

Moisturizing the skin helps keep the skin in good shape by keeping skin intensively moisturized, strengthening, improving and protecting skin barrier function, while helping minimize skin aging signs such as wrinkles and fine lines. Remember when the skin is sufficiently moisturized, it appears plump, supple and glowy.

Having said that, I want to walk you guys through my list of best moisturizers which I’ve personally used and wholeheartedly recommend.

1. COSRX Advanced Snail All In One Cream – Best Overall

Of all the moisturizers I’ve used, COSRX Advanced Snail All In One Cream comes on top. Atleast, for now.

This snail-secretion infused moisturizer gave my skin the heavy-hit of moisture and hydration that it deserves. Of course it contains 92% snail mucin which is extracted from snails, and acts as a mega multi-tasker, with the ability to do everything from moisturizing to boosting skin hydration and promoting collagen production, healing and regeneration.

It has a slimy, gooey-lightweight texture (but not sticky). Although it appears to be sticky when scooping it out of the product container, but doesn’t feel sticky on the skin. When applied on my skin, it glides effortlessly, and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy feeling, while leaving my skin intensively moisturized. All thanks to snail mucin, hyaluronic acid, caprylic/capric triglyceride and dimethicone which are its main skin ingredients. This moisturizer is suitable for all skin types, including oily skin. Pros

  • Product is fragrance-free.
  • Product comes well packaged.
  • Deeply moisturizes the skin, leaves it feeling dewy and soft.
  • Product texture is completely lightweight and doesn’t leave any greasy residue.
  • Cruelty free and contains no toxic or harmful substances.

Cons

  • Product is slightly pricey. May not be suitable for everyone’s budget.
  • Product comes in a jar, which needs to be scooped prior to application which can encourage the deposition of bacteria into the product. Ensure to wash your hands properly before scooping or use a spatula for scooping the product prior to application.

2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream – Best For Dry Skin

Similar to the COSRX Advanced Snail All In One Cream, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream also won my heart at first use, which made it make it to the list of my best moisturizers I’ve used. It has a thick-gel texture (but not too thick) which feels lightweight on the skin and absorbs without leaving a greasy residue behind, which made it great for my oily skin.

Although on its packaging it says, “for dry skin”. But I went for this particular one despite having oily skin because the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel which is meant for oily skin types contains fragrance. And not being a fan of fragrance, I had to opt for this particular one. And believe me when I say, it intensively moisturized my skin without overwhelming it, which makes it suitable for my oily skin too. But people with dry skin will enjoy this moisture-rich moisturizer more.

This moisture-rich moisturizer contains a bunch of skin hydrating-hitting ingredients such as glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, synthetic beeswax, and dimethicone. Read my full review here.

Pros

  • Easy to use.
  • Fragrance-free.
  • Well packaged.
  • Absorbs quickly (doesn’t leave a greasy residue).
  • Adequately hydrates and moisturizes the skin.
  • Contains no skin irritating ingredients.

Cons

  • Product is slightly pricey for the size. May not be suitable for everyone’s budget.
  • Product comes in a jar, which needs to be scooped prior to application which can encourage the deposition of bacteria into the product. Ensure your hands are clean before scooping or use a spatula for scooping the product prior to application.

I got to know about this Korean brand moisturizer late, and when I got to know about it, that was when I learnt that it has been raving a lot online.

Due to the massive online positive reviews backing this moisturizer, I couldn’t resist purchasing it, to put it to the test and see for sure if it was worth the hype.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the best moisturizers my oily skin has ever encountered. Due to its emulsion format, it made the texture extremely lightweight, thus exceptionally suitable for oily skinned-individuals (like myself).

Not only is it super lightweight on my skin, but intensely hydrates and moisturizes my skin. I can literally feel that satisfactory skin-hydration – similar to the satisfactory feeling you get when you quench your thirst for water.

Oily skin gang, this green tea enriched moisturizer is hands-down the holy grail if you’re seeking for a moisturizer suitable for your oily skin. Read my full review here.

This list wouldn’t have been complete without the inclusion of The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. One of the best moisturizers I’ve used. Of course from The Ordinary brand, a skincare brand that balanced between formulating quality skincare products and affordability. It’s loaded with multiple amino acids, in combination with fatty acids, triglycerides, urea, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, saccharides, sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid and many other compounds that are naturally present in our skin. All these at a budget friendly price.

Although this moisturizer was a little bit thick for my liking considering the fact I have oily skin, which can easily be over weighed when using heavy moisturizers on it. I love weightless hydration. But using The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA was great on my skin, irrespective how slightly thick it was, my oily skin still loved it and never broke out. The science behind this is unexplainable because my skin easily breakouts from heavy moisturizers. Read my full review here.

Pros

  • Easy to use.
  • Well packaged.
  • Pocket-friendly.
  • Contains no skin irritating ingredients.
  • Absorbs quickly (doesn’t leave a greasy residue).
  • Adequately hydrates and moisturizes the skin.

Cons

  • Product texture is a little bit thick for my liking.

9. Aveeno Skin Relief Moisture Repair Cream – Best For A Damaged Skin Barrier.

Got a compromised skin barrier? Then this moisturizer is your best bet to repair your skin barrier and get it back in shape.

It’s enriched with skin hydrating, soothing, and nourishing ingredients such as; glycerin, oat kernel flour, oat kernel oil and shea butter to deliver heavy-dose of moisture to the skin, to repair damaged skin barrier, keeping skin intensively moisturized (relieved of dryness), supple and healthy.

Regarding skin type, This moisturizer is suitable for all skin types (including oily skin), but MOST suitable for people with very dry skin and also damaged skin barrier due to its richness in skin hydrating and moisture-restoring ingredients. Although people with oily skin may find this moisturizer richer for their skin, as it was designed for very dry skinned-individuals. Read my full review here

Pros

  • Easy to use.
  • Well packaged.
  • Pocket-friendly.
  • Contains no skin irritating ingredients.
  • Contain no artificial fragrance or colour.
  • Absorbs quickly (doesn’t leave a greasy residue).
  • Adequately hydrates and moisturizes the skin.
  • Contains no harsh chemicals that can be harmful to the skin.

Cons

  • Product scent is unpleasant (it smells like a drug) but I find it much tolerable because I’ve gotten used to it. Although the product’s scent is off-putting, but it isn’t strong and doesn’t contain fragrance.
  • Product has to be scooped for application, which can encourage the deposition of bacteria into the product. I recommend the brand to devise a means for the application of this moisturizer without necessarily scooping it. Packaging can be changed into a tube container, or even a container with a pump, as this won’t only prevent bacteria deposition, but also encourages more efficient product-usage.
